Nuts & Bolts
The camber angle of your car is a very important measurement and can have all sorts of effects on the handling and even the safety of your vehicle.
Whether you’re looking to increase or reduce camber angle for any sort of desired effect or you want to adjust your car’s camber back to recommended factory specification, you’ll need a set of high-quality camber adjustment bolts or a camber adjustment kit.
Camber angle is the measurement in degrees of a vehicle wheel’s vertical alignment. On a car with negative camber, the top of the wheel will stick further into the wheel arch and the bottom of the wheel will stick outwards.
Vice versa, on a vehicle with positive camber the top of the wheel will stick out of the wheel arch, while the bottom will stick inwards. If a wheel is perfectly perpendicular to the road surface, it will have a camber of 0 degrees.
Variations in a car’s camber angle can have all sorts of different effects on its handling, its aesthetic appeal and even on how quickly and how evenly the tyres wear down.
Maintaining proper alignment is fundamental to preserving both your car’s safety and its tread life. Wheels should always be aligned to ensure that all four wheels are consistent with each other and are optimized for maximum contact with the surface of the road.
Camber adjustment bolts are clever eccentric bolts which allow you to modify the car’s camber angle. They can be used to either add or reduce camber in a vehicle, or can also be used to return the vehicle’s wheel alignment to the proper specifications after a suspension component has been damaged or bent out of shape.
It’s important to note that when you lower a vehicle’s ride height, the amount of negative camber is increased. How much it’s increased by depends on the vehicle and also in how dramatically its ride height has been reduced.
For this reason, camber adjustment bolts are a simple but very effective method of removing excessive camber on lowered vehicles.
Generally, installation takes only a few minutes and can be done at home with readily available hand tools. Benefits can include increased tyre life, improved handling and the ability to dial in more or less camber at will.
Performance Alloys stocks a full range of camber adjustment bolts and kits from high-quality manufacturers like H&R and Eibach.
These are great for use both on the street and for the track, where more camber can be dialled in for more aggressive cornering and performance driving.
